Wednesday, December 6th - The Nothing Song presents We Are Film Series screening followed by a Q&A with the producers of the series and performances by Mélat and Keeper! ♥

We Are is a short narrative film series spotlighting the intimate lives of seven women of color living in Austin, Texas. These stories illustrate the many identities these women encompass and serves as an exploration of their truths as sisters, friends, artists, lovers, and most of all, humans.

#bossbabesATX Anniversary + Fundraiser

Info : via #bossbabesATX -

On May 26, we'll be celebrating two years. That's two years of#bossbabesATX meets, one year of Babes Fest, six months of craftHER Market. That's 75+ events in the Austin area in the last 48 months. That's more than 15,000 folks coming through to support self-identifying women in creative industry, business and the arts.

We grew out of need and we're now a nonprofit institution with year-round programming, coalition-building services and a big vision: We want to make quality space, time and programming for the development of a sustainable community/creative infrastructure, one that adequately supports and promotes self-identifying women. We take a novel approach to community and conversation—we focus on meeting people where they are and fostering discussion face-to-face (whether that's in a bar, a coffee shop or while we're dancing our booties off to Princess Nokia). And after witnessing the F'in strength and willpower that women (of all sexualities, backgrounds, ethnicities, sizes and industries) have shared at our events, we're committed to a constant examination of sexual, racial and economic equality—whether that's through our SHE TALKS programming, our STATE OF THE UTERUS fundraisers, our meet-ups, BABES FEST or craftHER Market.

At this fundraiser, your donation will support the accommodations we need to make as a result of the unprecedented growth we've seen over the last two years. We need to hire full-time staff (we're currently run by a volunteer committee, a volunteer board and one part-timer) and acquire a space if we're going to continue doing what we do—and doing it well. TBH, we love the state of Texas and we know it's up to us to hold her down. We will keep going. We're grateful for your support, trust and vigilance.

Corners Release Show (with special guest Daedalus)

After two sold-out shows last year, premiering “The Story of Trip-Hop”, an audio/visual performance-based documentary; Keeper and Applied Pressure have joined forces again to debut a live rendition of Keeper’s upcoming EP. The trio’s sophomore release, Corners, explores the balance created by the four main elements found in our natural world - Fire, Water, Air and Earth. Each song on the EP is dedicated to one of these elements and its corresponding influence on the individual, human experience. This album follows Keeper down the rabbit hole into a deeper understanding of the self. Corners is produced by Bird Peterson, who will accompany Keeper and the Applied Pressure Orchestra to perform this record, start to finish, in cinematic fashion. With the help of Alamo Drafthouse’s beautiful screen, the album will be realized for its very first time, as a comprehensive audio/visual experience, paying homage to the elements and feeding our senses.

The guest of honor is none other than Low-End Theory godfather and musician, Daedelus. He contributes his unique sound-collage to this particular evening. In the theme of the night, he is debuting a visual synthesizer in conjunction with Austin’s own “Bleep Labs”, which manipulates the imagery that his music evokes. This is the first time he has performed this way and we are honored to have him share in such an intimate, rare space.

General Admission  : $15

Tickets Available at Drafthouse.com

Keeper will have Corners vinyl and download cards available at the show! If you can't attend, you can pre-order vinyl on Bandcamp for delivery or pick one up at Waterloo Records or Exploded Records at Juiceland in Austin, Texas beginning September 19th
